Review of the Children & Young People (Safety) Act 2017 – November 2022

South Australia has a substantial history of child protection system reviews and reforms to consider and YACSA has contributed to these processes in the past . YACSA advocates for a child protection system that holds the best interests of children and young people, as articulated in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), as the paramountcy principle. We remain concerned that reform to date in South Australia has failed to deliver the “fresh start” outlined in the Government’s response to the 2016 Nyland Royal Commission report & its recommendations
