Civics Roundtable
with Senator Karen Grogan

Join us for a roundtable discussion with Senator Karen Grogan on empowering young Australians through civics education and active participation in the democratic process.

When: Monday 29th July, 4:00 - 5:30pm.

Where: Youth Affairs Council of South Australia (YACSA) office

Who: Young people 12 - 19 years of age.

This will be a broad ranging conversation that’s led by responding to your questions, but we may cover topics like:

Civics Education: How do young people currently learn about the electoral system, both in school and through informal mechanisms? What barriers exist?

Combatting Misinformation: Democratic elections are on the rise at the same time as misinformation grows and spreads, how do these things interact and what part does civics education play?

Civic Engagement and Advocacy: What does effective advocacy look like and how can young people make a difference?

Please note: We would ideally like to hear from 10 young people with a range of knowledge around civics, so there’s nothing you need to know to take part!
